COCO COOKS - Prawns in hoisin sauce with noodles.

In a bid to stop eating out all the time and wasting money on junk food, I've recently started cooking a lot more. I thought it would be a good idea to start sharing recipes that I've made up/discovered. I used to be such a bad cook but now... move over Nigella!

I thought I'd start by showing you how to make a delicious Chinese prawn dish. I'm obsessed with prawns at the moment. This is super easy to make and it's really tasty!

Prawns in hoisin sauce with noodles

INGREDIENTS

-Packet of peeled prawns (I bought two because I was feeding an army)
-A handful of button mushrooms (sliced)
-A handful of mangetout or sugar snap peas*
-5 cloves of garlic (minced)
-1 chilli (chopped)
-Half an onion (chopped)
-Packet of rice noodles
*You can add whatever vegetables you like e.g. cabbage, red peppers, yellow peppers etc

***Ingredients for the marinade to go over the prawns***
-1 inch of ginger, peeled and thinly sliced
-2 tablespoons of olive oil
-3 tablespoons on hoisin sauce
-2 tablespoons of soy sauce (I used reduced salt soy sauce)
-Half of your minced garlic
-A teaspoon of sugar

How to make it.

-Wash prawns and put them into a bowl.
-Mix the marinade ingredients into another bowl then pour them on top of the prawns. Leave them in there for 20-40mins (The longer you leave them the more flavour the prawns will have)
-Grab a wok and turn the heat on your stove to medium/high and drizzle some oil into the wok.
- Once the oil is hot put the onions, chilli and the rest of the minced garlic into the wok and stir.
- When you see the onions and garlic are turning brown add in the marinaded prawns and stir frequently till prawns are cooked.
-Once prawns are cooked add in the mushrooms and mangetout/sugar snap peas and stir in for 5 minutes.
-I bought noodles that were already cooked in a packet so I just put them into the wok and cooked through for about 5 minutes.

THEN VOILA! FOOD IS DONE!
*You can serve with rice if you like.*

Comment below and tell me how you did! Also let me know if you think this is a feature I should carry on with. I have another prawn dish I could show you guys how to make if you like?

GOOD LUCK!

Phone Clutch - Topshop

Firstly, I'm sorry, I have been a bad bad blogger! I have been so busy with work and uni blah blah that I've neglected my wonderland :(... But now I'm back!

So this is an outfit I wore on Tuesday when I went to do some shopping with my sister. I bought my coat the other day from ASOS and I'm in love. It goes with absolutely everything and has huge pockets. The only problem is that it is a bit thin and doesn't have lining on the inside so it's doesn't really shield me from the cold. But that's fine, I'll just layer up. I've also been wearing these Topshop trainers non stop (even thought they hurt my feet lol). They're those trainers with a hidden heel. I used to be against the hidden heel trainer trend because most of the ones I'd seen were so ugly. But you can't even tell these have a heel in them.

I can't believe there's only 19 days till Christmas. This year has gone so quickly! What do you guys have on your Christmas wishlist?

I wanna be a part of it...

NEW YORK, NEWWW YORKKKK!
So in a few hours, my sister and I will be travelling to New York. We are SO excited. I had been begging my mum all year to let my sister and I go to New York this summer and I can't believe we're actually going. This isn't my first time there, I've been a few times when I was younger to visit relatives out there but this is the first time my sister and I are travelling on our own. We've written down all the sights and landmarks we want to see even though I've been to some of them a million times already. i just can't wait to shop and eat! I'm literally drooling thinking about all the good (and fatty) food I'm going to eat haha.

I'm also going to re-enact this moment from Breakfast at Tiffany's:

Have any of you been to New York? Where are the best places to shop?
I'm going for 3 weeks so I probably won't blog till I'm back *boohoo* but leave comments if you have any ideas on what I can write about on my blog.

Gwen Stefani for Harper's Bazaar US September 2012.

Gwen Stefani looks amazing in the September 2012 cover of Harper's Bazaar wearing a pink strapless dress by Raf Simons for Jil Sander. The accompanying editorial shoot was shot by Terry Richardson and included designs from The Row and Versace.
I've loved Gwen Stefani since I can remember and I'm so glad the No Doubt have reformed! Have you heard their new song 'Settle Down'? I love it!
What do you think of this editorial piece? Are you a Gwen Stefani fan?

OOTD: Feelin' hot hot hot

Top - Urban Outfitters
Skirt - Topshop
Sunglasses - Zara
Casio Watch - ASOS
Bracelets - Gift from friend/Urban Outfitters/Gift from Aunt.

So we're having some sort of heatwave here in London and I'm actually loving it. I'm not really a Summer lover but it makes a change from the heavy rain we were having last week! Yesterday my sister and I went to do a bit of shopping in Primark for my holiday. I haven't shopped in Primark in AGES. I always find some goodies my friends say I have a gift. I might do a post about them later. But anyways, this is what I wore yesterday. I hardly ever wear skirts but I found this in my wardrobe over the weekend and realised I've hardly worn it!
Hope you're all enjoying the weather.

Style Crush #1: Miroslava Duma

So I've decided to add a 'Style Crush' feature to my blog. So far I've written down 11 of my style crushes which I shall be blogging about over time and hopefully I'll add some more to my list.
Today I'm going to start of with Miroslava Duma. I'd seen photos of her floating around on Tumblr and I spent hours trying to find out who she was haha. She used to be editor of the Russian Harper's Bazaar and now she is a freelance writer and founder of http://buro247.ru/Her style is just so effortless and she always seems to have the best accessories to compliment her outfits. She's been snapped by The Sartorialist and is definitely one of my favourite style crushes to date.

Tumblr inspiration

I love love love Tumblr. I get most of my outfit inspirations from there and I love to recreate and put my own twist on some of the looks I stumble across.

Shirt - H&M
Necklace - New Look
Belt - Primark
Shorts - Bershka
Doc Martens - Some shoe shop in Camden
Casio Watch - ASOS
Nails - LA Colors (can't remember the name)

So the weather today was nuts. When I woke up it was super sunny so I thought why not run a few errands. Just as I got dressed and was about to head out of the door... torrential downpour. So I decided to take some snaps of my outfit while waiting for the sun to come out.
I'm really not liking this bipolar weather we're having here in England! So depressing.

Where The Wild Things Are.

'Where The Wild Things Are' is one of my favourite books from when I was a kid and I also love the movie. So I was quite happy when I saw Lindsey Wixon modelling for Mulberry in this 'Where the Wild Things Are' themed shoot. I love the bags too... especially the orange one *lovestruck*.

Christian Dior Fall Couture 2012

So last night I was looking through the Couture catwalk shows that took place in Paris this week. Nothing really jumped out at me until I saw the Dior collection. I've literally fallen in love. This was Raf Simons debut collection for Dior and he has definitely done a good job. I love the bright and futuristic vibe of the collection and the timeless silhouettes.

Some of my favourite pieces:

The detailing on this top is gorgeous.

I adored the neon make-up.

Here's the show in full:

What did you think of the collection?
